I chose this hotel because it seemed to receive a string of generally positive reviews concerning cleanliness and safety, and it's a fairly new hotel, too. I'd not stayed at a Home2Suites hotel anywhere before this, so I didn't know quite what to expect. I was traveling by myself and was in town for a funeral. So we went to the room. They let me stay and even took my word that the two people with me were okay to stay as well. When we got to the Home 2 Suites, the people were really nice. I don't think I can go back to the dog hotel again after staying at the Home 2 Suites in Abilene. We came to Abilene to help my human brother check into his apartment at Abilene Christian and I went along for the RIDE! Normally, my people check me into a dog hotel but this time, I went along on the trip. My people took me (Danya, a dog) on a neat car RIDE! Did I tell you I love RIDES? Anyway, this was the longest RIDE I ever took and it was fun. Thank you for your customer service, Bobbi, and the rest of the staff of this hotel!… Because my stay at the Abilene Home2Suites was positive, I'll consider staying at this chain again in another community down the road. There weren't many restaurant options near the hotel, but I was very happy with meals/experiences at both the Lytle Land and Cattle restaurant on the south side of Abilene and the Beehive restaurant downtown. Regarding the breakfast items, the tropical mango water provided alongside the juice options is terrific! So refreshing and different - I loved it! The coffee was also good and readily available throughout the day, along with ice water, in the lobby near the entrance. I realized my error when I was checking in, and she adjusted my rate to ensure I was charged for one, not two. I also appreciate her being able to reduce my room rate somewhat, since I was traveling by myself - I apparently accidentally made the reservation for two people. I appreciate the assistance Bobbi (sp?) gave me when I checked in, as she was able to assign me to a room in the late morning, even though I arrived in the late morning and the official check-in time wasn't until 3 p.m. Had my timing and the weather been right, I would have enjoyed relaxing with a drink and something to read to while away an hour or so on one of the outdoor lounge chairs. The outdoor furniture near the front entrance looked inviting, along with the fairly minimal landscaping. I wish the bathroom had an exhaust fan to dissipate the steam and humidity, but that's a rare feature in any hotel. Two minor comments - I liked the large dispensers of shampoo and shower gel, mounted in the shower, but it would be nice if there was an additional dispenser of conditioner. The room seemed clean, fresh and up to par. I did, however, like the plentiful counter space that came with this room. I really didn't need the kitchenette aspect of the room, as I had no need for the fridge or microwave. ![]() ![]()

Because of these strains, large g-forces may be destructive. Such forces cause stresses and strains on objects, since they must be transmitted from an object surface. In practice, as noted, these are surface-contact forces between objects. The g-force experienced by an object is due to the vector sum of all non-gravitational forces acting on an object's freedom to move. Gravitational acceleration (except certain electromagnetic force influences) is the cause of an object's acceleration in relation to free fall. The types of forces involved are transmitted through objects by interior mechanical stresses. When the g-force is produced by the surface of one object being pushed by the surface of another object, the reaction force to this push produces an equal and opposite weight for every unit of each object's mass. Since g-forces indirectly produce weight, any g-force can be described as a "weight per unit mass" (see the synonym specific weight). The gravitational force equivalent, or, more commonly, g-force, is a measurement of the type of force per unit mass – typically acceleration – that causes a perception of weight, with a g-force of 1 g (not gram in mass measurement) equal to the conventional value of gravitational acceleration on Earth, g, of about 9.8 m/s 2. Combining this with the vertical g-force in the stationary case using the Pythagorean theorem yields a g-force of 5.4 g. This is a horizontal acceleration of 5.3 g. One of the sayings we have in the fighter community is: as soon as you put the helmet on, you lose 20 IQ points. It’s one thing to make decisions sitting on the ground, it’s another when you feel the world closing in as the blood is being drained from your head. I often get asked why we can’t do all of our training in a simulator-G’s are one of the reasons why. As a community, we’ve started to introduce physical therapy and dedicated stretching routines after each flight, in order to extend our careers. A few months ago, I had to get X-rays on my back to determine if I’d damaged a vertebra. In my squadron of 30 people: one pilot is unable to fly while his neck heals, another has been told by the flight doctor that he has the spine of someone in their mid-fifties (he’s 39), and another is only able to fly low-G sorties. With our helmets on, over 135 pounds of force is applied to the neck at 9G’s. The long term effects of high-G’s can result in neck and back issues-most pilots deal with some level of general pain due to G’s. It’s similar to a bruise and usually dissipates within a few days. The current G-suit is shown on the left, with the older version on the right. ![]() Instead of struggling for a breath, with what feels like an elephant on our chest, we can take a small sip of air and rely on the pressure-breathing to fill our lungs. To increase endurance, we have pressure-breathing, which forces air into our lungs during high-G’s. As we enter a turn, the bladders inflate, squeezing our legs and preventing blood from rushing towards our feet. We wear G-suits, which are pants with air-bladders in them. Over the years, technology has allowed us to pull more G’s for longer amounts of time. ![]() In fact, it’s so important that we’re legally required to go into crew rest 12 hours before a flight, with an uninterrupted 8 hours to sleep. Poor sleep decreases alertness and G-awareness, which is what signals a pilot to start their G-strain. Sleep is also a contribution factor to G-tolerance. As with any athletic endeavor, it’s important we eat nutritious foods and avoid high sugar “junk food.” Studies have shown that with only three percent dehydration, G-tolerance time can be reduced by up to 50%. Hydration and nutrition also play an important part in the amount of G’s a pilot can handle. ![]() ![]() ![]() The 16 Smart Programs include Soup/Broth, Meat/Stew, Bean/Chili, Cake, Egg, Slow Cook, Cake Preset, Rice, Multigrain, Porridge, Steam, Sous Vide Function, and Yogurt programs.
